This manifest is stamped and authorized which allows our guides and drivers with their vehicles to gain entry to the Port Area to pick up the guests from the front of the ship.

If you do not provide us with the full passport details of all guests, you will be required to catch the public shuttle bus from the Port area to the town centre. This can take from 1 – 2 hours and can cause significant delays for your tour.

This is why we ask for your full passport details when you submit your booking form for a Shore Excursion Tour with us.

Please note that Shore Excursions need to be booked a minimum of 72 hours in advance so that we are able to get an authorized and stamped copy of the Visa Manifest form the Border/Port Authority.

Golf Carts in Petra (Subject to availability)

IMPORTANT NOTICE CONCERNING THE ELECTRIC GOLF CARTS :

1-Please, note that golf carts are owned by the PRA (Petra Region Authority) this is not a service we own/manage. As such since this is not a service we are responsible for, we can’t promise/guarantee it to our clients.

2-Because there’s currently only a limited number of electric golf carts available for hire. It is not possible to pre-arrange/book this service. It’s made so that other groups who may be more in need of it get a fair chance upon their arrival at the site.

3-In our experience we can share that priority in allocation is typically given to groups with any elderly travelers, people with any physical disabilities & families with infants/children. Other travelers can request to get it as well, presuming it’s available on the time of their arrival at the visitor center (if not occupied by other groups).

4-JHT drivers/guides can assist you in requesting/arranging this service on spot if PRA confirm availability at your time of arrival at site.

5-Payment for this as per below schedule is to made directly to the PRA at the visitor center. So , we cannot book them , and we cannot accept payments .

There are a limited number of electric golf carts available for hire. The hire of these can be arranged through the Visitors Centre on the day of your arrival and are subject to availability. Each golf cart holds a maximum of 5 guests and the driver. The golf cart booking is for 1.5 hours maximum. This ride is not insured and is upon the guest’s own responsibility. Please note that your guide counts as 1 person so if you are on a private tour for 2 people with a guide then the rate for 3 people will be charged for the golf cart.

Whilst not an official licensed Ministry of Tourism guide, your driver is extremely knowledgeable about the area and its history, and is able to point out sites of interest and provide you with information as you travel. Your driver will assist you during your tour but is unable to enter the sites with you. Your driver transfers you according to your itinerary (destination to destination).

For groups of 7 or more the driver will be an employee of the transport company through which the vehicle is provided.

Guide at Petra (for groups of 06 or less and if the spot guide in Petra is included)

The Local guides (who are at the visitor’s center of Petra site) are assigned at the visitor's center of the site . Travel Agencies cannot guarantee the quality of their services.

*We endeavour to utilise the guiding services of a licensed guide who is known to our agency. During peak times we might provide you with a guide from the Petra Visitors centre. As these guides are not known to our agency we can not guarantee the level of their service. Any complaints about problems encountered with the guides from the Petra Visitors centre should be directed to the Petra Visitors Centre directly at the conclusion of your guided tour.

Why do you need my passport details for booking a Shore Excursion?

In order to be authorized to pick guests up from the Port Area we are required to submit a visa manifest to the Border/Port Authority. The visa manifest requires the full passport details for all guests.

Tipping in Jordan

Tipping in Jordan

Many Travelers view tipping as a difficult subject, though this need not be the case.  The first thing to remember is that tipping is not compulsory, nor are there any fixed amounts.  The bottom line in determining whether and how much to tip is to ask yourself how much the individual did to make your travels more enjoyable.  It is with this in mind that we offer the following information.

Tipping is a practiced social custom in Jordan. Tipping by definition is voluntary – at the discretion of the customer. In tours services, tour guides and drivers are providing you with services, offering knowledge about Jordan history, traditions, artifacts, sites, food and others.

A gratuity (also called a tip) is a sum of money customarily given by a client or customer to certain service sector for the service they have performed, in addition to the basic price of the service. It may or may not be customary to tip in other sectors, but this depends on the country or location.

Tips and their amount are a matter of social custom and etiquette, and the custom varies between countries and between settings. In some locations tipping is discouraged and considered insulting, while in some other locations tipping is expected from customers. The customary amount of a tip can be a specific range of monetary amounts or a certain percentage of the bill based on the perceived quality of the service given.

How Much to Tip in Jordan?

Tips of 10% are generally expected in better restaurants.  Elsewhere, rounding up the bill to the nearest 250 fils or with loose change is appreciated by underpaid staff, including taxi drivers.  Hotels and restaurants in the midrange and, especially, top-end categories generally add on an automatic 10% service charge, although whether this actually returns to the staff who served you is another question.

Gratuities for guides and drivers are not included in the price of your tour so we offer the following tipping guidelines.

Distances and walking required in Petra for those with mobility issues.

Please advise us if you have limited mobility or will acquire assistance and we will try to accommodate you as best we can.

From the Visitors Centre to the Treasury is approximately 2kms one way. It is a downhill walk to the Treasury which means that it is uphill all the way back. The first part of the walk from the Visitors Centre to the entrance of the Siq is a gravel track. Through the Siq it is a paved surface with a few rough sections of Roman cobblestones. There is one section at the entrance to the Siq that is a more significant gradient. The route can be suitable for wheelchairs (with assistance in sections). Beyond the Treasury the track is a rough sandy and gravel surface. It is not suitable for wheelchairs or recommended for those with mobility issues.

From the Treasury to the end of the Main Trail and the Basin Restaruant is approximately 2kms. From the Basin Restaurant to the top of the mountain where the Monastery is located is approximately 800 steps. It is a step climb and takes approximately 45 mins. You will require a moderate degree of fitness to be able to visit the Monastery.

Local Bedouin 4x4 Driver in Wadi Rum.

In Wadi Rum the 4x4 tours are provided by the local Bedouin community. They are the only ones that are authorized to operate tours inside the protected area. We have a contract with two operators in Wadi Rum that provide our guests with a great experience.

Your 4x4 tour will be conducted by a local Bedouin who is your driver. The local Bedouin speak varying degrees of English and are not a licensed guide. We cannot guarantee the quality of the English spoken or the degree of knowledge that your Bedouin driver will have.

Please note that the Bedouin drivers do not speak languages other than English and Arabic.

4x4 Vehicles in Wadi Rum

4x4s in Wadi Rum are generally old vehicles (no a/c and in poor condition) and belong to the local Bedouin association.  Given that we don't have any other choice when it comes to transportation in Wadi Rum, we can only advise our clients about their state. Tours in Wadi Rum are to support the local community of Wadi Rum Protected Area and Natural Reserve.
