What are the operating hours of the Allenby Bridge / King Hussein Border?

The Opening Hours for the Passenger Terminal are:

Sunday through Thursday: 08:00 – 24:00

The entry of tourist groups on Sunday through Thursday is possible until 21:00.

Fridays and Saturdays: 08:00-15:00

The entry of tourist groups on Fridays is possible until 12:00.

The border crossing is closed at Yom Kippur and the first day of Eid al-Adha.

On the Jordanian side, the opening hours for holidays are usually announced at very short notice. When making your travel plans, keep upcoming holidays in mind, and be prepared to be flexible. Please note that the border can be subject to closures at other times without or limited warning which are outside of our control.

 

What are the fees/taxes to be paid at the Allenby Bridge / King Hussein Border?

Israeli Visa : Free

Israeli Departure Tax (to be paid by yourself) : 180NIS (Israeli Shekels) or approximately $55USD. Can be paid in USD or NIS.

Jordanian Visa (if not included in your tour package or eligible for free visa/stays less than 2 nights) : 40JD or approximately $60USD. Must be paid in JOD. There are ATM’s and exchange offices at the border. Please note that without the meet and assist service from our agency you cannot get a visa on arrival at this border.

Jordanian Departure Tax (if not included in your tour package): 10JD or approximately $15USD. Must be paid in JOD.

Border Transfer Costs : Shuttle bus fee of 7 JD (10USD) per passenger plus 1.50JD (2USD) per luggage item. Those who do not wish to wait for the shuttle bus to depart can take a VIP service which costs around $110 USD per person.

 

Visa on Arrival at Allenby Bridge/King Hussein Border – Special Service for our guests.

We are able to offer a special service to our guests that are coming to Jordan using the Allenby Bridge/King Hussein Border. We can provide a meet and assist service and so that you will get your visa on arrival to Jordan. Normally if you use this border crossing you should apply for your visa in advance, but as a special service for our guests we can manage your visa on arrival. If you are staying 2 or more consecutive nights you will get the free visa for Jordan.

 If you don’t want the meet and assist service, you will need to arrange for your visa in advance as visas are not issued on arrival at this border without the meet and assist service.

 

How do I complete the border crossing at Allenby Bridge / King Hussein Border coming from Israel to Jordan?

  1. At the Israeli Terminal:

Your vehicle will drop you off outside the Israeli terminal. You enter the terminal and head to the exit tax kiosk to pay your exit tax. Officially this is payable in local currency, but they will generally take US dollars or Euros as well. Take the exit tax invoice to the immigration counter and hand it over with your passport. After processing your passport, you will enter into a waiting area with seats. Here you can wait till called to board your shuttle bus.

  1. Between the Border Terminals

You can wait in the waiting area until you are called to board the shuttle bus (to avoid long waiting hours, you can opt for the VIP service (see below). Please be aware there are 3 different shuttles, one for tourists, one for Jerusalem residents, and one for West Bank Palestinians. Check with the driver you are on the correct bus.

Along the way between Israeli and the Jordanian terminal, the Jordanian police will collect your passports. These will be held by the driver and given to the Jordanian immigration at the Jordanian Terminal. Upon arrival at the Jordanian terminal, a ticket collector will board the bus to charge the passengers for their ride. Eventually, you will disembark from the bus at the Jordanian Border Terminal.

  1. Jordanian Border Terminal

Inside the terminal your name will be called and you will be handed your passport. Your driver or guide will be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it and will assist you with the process of getting your visa on arrival.

 

How do I complete the border crossing at Allenby Bridge / King Hussein Border coming from Jordan to to Israel?

  1. At the Jordanian Terminal:

When you arrive at King Hussein Bridge, make sure you go to the Tourist Terminal. After entering the terminal, you will have to pay the exit tax if it is applicable, and get your passport checked. Usually, you will receive your exit stamp on a piece of paper. The staff will keep your passport and return it to you once you’re on the shuttle bus.

  1. Between the Border Terminals:

Sometimes, you have to wait a bit until there are enough passengers to fill the bus to the Israeli Terminal, which is about 5 Km away. At some point, you will be told to board the shuttle bus (if you want to avoid the wait for the bus and speed up the whole border crossing you can take the VIP service). You have to buy a ticket for the transfer in the bus. You will also receive your passport back.

  1. At the Israeli Terminal:

After getting out of the shuttle bus in front of the Israeli terminal, you will have to drop large items of luggage at one of the counters outside the terminal (it will go for a security check). You will get a sticker on your passport, indicating how many items you checked in. If you are only traveling with hand luggage, make sure to keep that with you.

Before entering the terminal, stop at a second counter, where your passport will receive its initial assessment and another sticker. You can then continue inside the terminal, where an immigration officers will (after possibly some questioning) issue you with your visa.

After the immigration kiosks there is another passport check. Then you walk out to the hall where the checked luggage is discharged. You can collect your luggage, and continue past the customs counters and out of the Terminal.

 

Why do you need my passport details in the booking form?

If you have the meet and assist service as part of your tour package we require the full passport details for all guests in order to prepare the visa manifest paper. Your driver or guide needs to have this visa manifest in order to be authorized to enter the arrivals terminal and to be able to assist you with getting your visa on arrival to Jordan.

 

Can you pick me up or drop me off at from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv?

Yes we can arrange a private transfer from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv. Private transfers in Israel are expensive.

For a 4 seater passenger vehicle the cost is :

From Jerusalem to Allenby Bridge : $150USD

From Tel Aviv to Allenby Bridge : $250USD

For a 7 seater minivan the cost is :

From Jerusalem to Allenby Bridge : $250USD

From Tel Aviv to Allenby Bridge : $350USD

 

Groups crossing at Allenby Bridge/ King Hussein Border

For groups that have got a vehicle/bus booked with a licensed transport company the vehicle/bus is able to enter into no mans land and transfer you across from the exit of the Israeli departure terminal to the arrivals terminal on the Jordanian side of the border (approximately 5kms). This is instead of having to wait and catch the public shuttle bus service between the terminals.

You will complete the departure process on the Israeli side and make your way to where the public shuttle buses leave from. Here you will find your vehicle/bus waiting for you with your driver.

When you reach the Jordanian arrivals terminal you will find your guide waiting for you who will assist you with getting your visa on arrival.
