Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA)

Jordan tours and holidays from Queen Alia Airport Amman

Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) is the main and largest airport in Jordan, located in Zizya, approximately 30 kilometers (20 miles) south of the capital, Amman. It was inaugurated in 1983 and named in honor of Queen Alia, who passed away in 1977.

A modern state-of-the-art terminal opened in March 2013, replacing the airport’s two older passenger terminals and the cargo terminal. The new facility has significantly enhanced the travel experience and has been internationally recognized. In 2014, QAIA was awarded "Best Improvement by Region: Middle East" and "Best Airport by Region: Middle East" by the Airports Council International, based on the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey for customer satisfaction.

A defining architectural feature of the terminal is its roof, designed to resemble traditional Bedouin tents. It comprises 127 concrete domes, each weighing up to 600 metric tons.

Inside the terminal, passengers can enjoy a wide range of amenities, including:

  • International dining options and cafés

  • Supermarkets and snack shops

  • A local nuts roastery

  • A spacious Duty-Free shopping area

  • A children’s play zone

  • Free Wi-Fi and internet connectivity

Already included in your airline ticket—no additional payment is required at the airport.

Why We Request Passport Details

If your tour includes the Meet & Assist service, we are required to prepare a visa manifest before your arrival. This document must include the full passport details of all guests and is submitted to Jordanian authorities for pre-approval.
