Boat Trip in Aqaba: Explore the Beauty of Jordan's Coastal Waters
While Jordan’s coastline may be small, it offers some of the most stunning seaside experiences. Among the best ways to discover its charm is through a boat trip in Aqaba. Whether you choose a private yacht or a glass-bottom boat, this activity is a must for those wanting to enjoy the sea and the breathtaking surroundings. Below, we detail the options available for this memorable experience, so you can add it to your travel package with Jordan Horizons Tours.
What Is a Boat Trip in Aqaba?
There are two main types of boat trips you can enjoy in Aqaba:
-
Private Yacht Trips: These trips can be either collective (shared with other passengers) or private (chartered for you and your group). Private yacht trips are especially popular with divers, as they provide a convenient way to reach specific dive sites along the coast. Whether you’re cruising leisurely or heading to an exciting diving spot, a yacht trip gives you flexibility and comfort.
-
Glass-Bottom Boat Trips: If you prefer to stay dry while exploring the underwater world, the glass-bottom boat is a fantastic option. These boats have transparent hulls that allow passengers to admire the colorful coral reefs, vibrant fish, and even sunken wrecks beneath the surface. It’s an excellent choice for those who want to see the marine life without diving. For those eager to dip into the water, some glass-bottom boat trips even offer brief snorkeling opportunities with life jackets provided.
Where to Start the Tour and What You’ll See
Boat trips in Aqaba generally depart from any of the city’s marinas or nearby coastal areas:
-
Glass-Bottom Boat Trips: Typically depart from Aqaba’s marina, situated near the historic Aqaba Fort. These trips usually stay close to the coastline, offering spectacular views of the coral reefs and marine life just off the shore.
-
Private Yacht Trips: These can be arranged from the city’s main marina or from private docks located at luxury resorts such as Tala Bay to the south of Aqaba. Private yacht trips offer flexibility in terms of route, duration, and even destinations.
The duration of these trips typically ranges from two to three hours, but if you’re interested in a longer adventure, private yacht trips can take you as far as Egyptian waters or to places like Pharaoh’s Island. For these extended journeys, you will need to make a special reservation that includes visas and any necessary bureaucratic procedures.
What’s Included in the Boat Trips
The inclusions of your boat trip will depend on the type of boat and the tour package:
-
Glass-Bottom Boat Trips: Generally last around two hours and may include a soft drink or refreshment to enjoy while observing the marine life below. These trips are ideal for those looking for a relaxed experience with a view of the underwater world.
-
Private Yacht Tours: These tours are more flexible and can be customized based on your needs. Many include lunch, making for a delightful afternoon on the water. Private yacht trips often last longer, allowing you to explore further out into the Red Sea.
