Welcome to Jordan! Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you’ll be met by our representative for assistance with your visa and transfer to your hotel in Amman.
Take some time to unwind and settle in. Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to explore Amman — a city that beautifully blends ancient heritage with modern vibrancy. With roots dating back to the Bronze Age, Amman has evolved into a dynamic capital while preserving its traditional hospitality and charm.
Overnight: Hotel in Amman
After breakfast, depart Amman at 7:30 am for a 2.5-hour scenic drive to Dana Village, the starting point of your trek.
Today’s hike leads you through the remarkable Dana Biosphere Reserve — Jordan’s largest nature reserve, home to four distinct ecological zones teeming with diverse flora and fauna. Follow mountain trails overlooking the vast Dana Valley, before descending into the lush Al Khashasha Valley. Your wilderness campsite awaits near Mansoura, where you’ll enjoy a peaceful night under the stars.
Hiking Distance: 15 km | Duration: 5–7 hrs
Ascent: 260 m | Descent: 690 m
Overnight: Wilderness Camping in Mansoura
After a hearty breakfast in the wild, set out early toward Furon. This is one of the more challenging yet rewarding stretches of the journey. The trail ascends through the Sharah Mountains, revealing spectacular views over Wadi Araba — a dramatic desert expanse that stretches toward the horizon.
Arrive at your campsite in Al Furon by late afternoon, where you can relax, sip traditional Bedouin tea, and take in the sweeping mountain views as the sun sets.
Hiking Distance: 14 km | Duration: 5–7 hrs
Ascent: 563 m | Descent: 170 m
Overnight: Wilderness Camping in Furon
Today’s route takes you deep into some of Jordan’s wildest and most remote terrain. Following ancient shepherd trails along the Sharah Mountains, the path winds through rugged black peaks and dramatic canyons.
As you gradually ascend, the stark desert views unfold below, revealing the raw beauty of the landscape. Approaching Ghbour Whedat, the terrain softens into sandstone formations shaped by centuries of wind and time.
Hiking Distance: 17 km | Ascent: 750 m | Descent: 920 m
Overnight: Wilderness Camping in Ghbour Whedat
Leaving the solitude of the mountains behind, today’s trek brings you closer to human life once again. Along the way, you’ll pass Bedouin camps, flocks of sheep, and small farms — glimpses into the rural lifestyle of southern Jordan.
You’ll also begin to notice ancient Nabataean remnants — olive presses, aqueducts, and other signs of early civilization — as you make your way through the soft sandstone canyons leading to Little Petra (Siq al-Barid). This site, a smaller counterpart to Petra, was once a caravan rest stop along the Silk Road. After exploring its carved facades and narrow passages, relax at your Bedouin camp nearby.
Hiking Distance: 14 km | Ascent: 610 m | Descent: 560 m
Overnight: Bedouin Camp near Little Petra
Today marks the grand finale of your trekking adventure — entering Petra through the “Back Door,” far from the main crowds.
Descend through Wadi Ghurab, following ancient Nabataean paths carved into the sandstone mountains. The trail leads to a hidden plateau that suddenly reveals one of Jordan’s greatest treasures — The Monastery (Ad Deir).
After exploring, continue through Petra’s main archaeological area, passing tombs, temples, and the colonnaded street until you reach the iconic Treasury (Al-Khazneh). Take time to admire its intricate carvings before exiting through the narrow Siq canyon.
Hiking Distance: 13.8 km | Ascent: 496 m | Descent: 519 m
Overnight: Hotel in Petra
After breakfast, journey south to the breathtaking Wadi Rum — a landscape of towering sandstone cliffs and red dunes often described as “the Valley of the Moon.”
Meet your Bedouin hosts and set off on a 4x4 jeep tour to explore hidden canyons, ancient rock inscriptions, and natural stone bridges. You’ll have time for short hikes or climbs at your own pace before witnessing one of the world’s most stunning sunsets.
Spend the night at a traditional Bedouin desert camp, enjoying a delicious dinner, tea by the fire, and a night beneath the starlit sky.
Overnight: Bedouin Camp in Wadi Rum
After breakfast, travel north to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Enjoy a relaxing swim (or float!) in its mineral-rich waters, cover yourself in the famous healing mud, or indulge in a spa treatment.
In the late afternoon, continue your drive back to Amman for your final night in Jordan.
Overnight: Hotel in Amman
After breakfast, transfer to Queen Alia International Airport for your departure flight.
We hope you leave with unforgettable memories of Jordan’s natural beauty, ancient wonders, and warm hospitality — and that you’ll join Jordan Horizons Tours again for your next adventure.
