Mujib Trails and Activities: Experience Jordan’s Natural Wonders

The Mujib Biosphere Reserve offers an array of exciting outdoor adventures, including scenic trails and thrilling activities that immerse you in the stunning beauty of Jordan’s natural landscapes. Whether you are seeking a relaxing walk along the river or an adrenaline-filled zipline ride, Mujib has something for everyone. Below are the details of the popular trails and activities offered in the reserve.

Siq Trail

The Siq Trail starts at the Mujib Adventure Center and takes you through the breathtaking landscape of the gorge. Follow the cantilevered walkway as you walk alongside the Mujib River, surrounded by towering sandstone cliffs, and reach the base of a stunning waterfall. Depending on the seasonal rainfall, the gorge may contain natural pools deep enough for swimming. This trail is an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy a slow, refreshing hike, particularly in the summer heat.

Availability: Only during summer months, depending on weather conditions. Contact the service provider to confirm availability.

Canyon Trail

The Canyon Trail begins at the Mujib Adventure Center and follows the Dead Sea Highway southwards. Shortly after entering the gorge, you’ll reach the top of a 20-meter waterfall, which you will descend under the supervision of a trained guide. After the waterfall descent, the trail continues along the Siq Trail and returns to the Adventure Center.

Availability: Only available in the summer months, depending on weather conditions. A trained guide is required. Please contact the service provider to confirm availability.

Malaqi Trail

The Malaqi Trail also starts from the Mujib Adventure Center, following the Dead Sea Highway southward. This hike leads you upstream to the Hidan River, where you’ll swim in natural pools before facing the thrilling descent of a 20-meter waterfall under the watchful eye of a trained guide. Afterward, the hike continues along the Siq Trail, returning to the Mujib Adventure Center.

Availability: Only during the summer months, depending on weather conditions. A trained guide is required. Please contact the service provider to confirm availability.

Ibex Trail

The Ibex Trail begins at the Mujib Adventure Center, following the Dead Sea Highway before ascending into the reserve. The trail runs parallel to the Dead Sea, providing stunning views of the deep blue waters as you hike. The path leads through dry wadis to the Raddas Ranger Station, where you may spot the elusive Nubian Ibex. This is also where you can view the famous Lot’s Wife rock statue. After a rest, the trail continues along the road for about an hour.

Availability: Only during the winter months, depending on weather conditions. A trained guide is required. Please contact the service provider to confirm availability.

Al-Hidan Trail

The Al-Hidan Trail begins at the Visitor Center and follows a path from southwest to northeast. Along this trail, you’ll swim through natural pools, each more picturesque than the last, until you reach the endpoint, where you’ll discover an ancient wheat mill.

Availability: Available year-round, depending on weather conditions.

Zipline Adventure

For thrill-seekers, the Mujib Biosphere Reserve offers an exciting zipline experience. Spanning 100 meters with a 9-meter slope, the zipline runs parallel to two cables, allowing two people to zipline together. Starting from the Visitor Center, it offers a spectacular view as you soar across the valley towards the Mujib Bridge.

Availability: Available year-round, depending on weather conditions.

Important Notes:

  • All trails and activities are weather-dependent, and availability may vary. It’s recommended to contact the service provider before planning your visit to confirm availability.

  • Most trails and activities require a trained guide for safety and navigation.

  • These activities are best suited for those in good physical condition. Some trails may involve swimming or climbing.
