How Many Days Should You Spend in Jordan?

How Many Days Should You Spend in Jordan?

There is no translation available.

Whether you have two days or two weeks to spend, Jordan is an accessible destination for even the most hurried of travelers. From whirlwind tours of Petra to in-depth Holy Land tours and week-long treks, there's an option that suits every schedule.

Jordan is a compact country with more than its fair share of must-see sites. Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea are all world-renowned attractions and are located within just a few hundred miles of each other. This, combined with the fact that Jordan’s roads are of excellent quality, means that it’s possible to see all of Jordan’s top spots in about 3 days. This doesn’t mean that we recommend spending 3 days only, since there is a lot more to see, and the top sites are worth spending more time at than just a quick visit.

Jordan in 2 days

With only 2 days in Jordan (often done as a side trip during a longer vacation to Israel), you can reasonably see 2 of Jordan’s top sights. So you will have to choose which one of Petra, Wadi Rum or the Dead Sea you will have to forego.

Example 2-Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Amman - Petra Visit - Wadi Rum. Overnight in Wadi Rum.

Day 2: Morning jeep tour in Wadi Rum. Then back to Amman

Our specialists can help you craft a tailormade itinerary full of Jordan's best historical sites, natural wonders, and local experiences.

Jordan in 3 days

With 3 days in Jordan you can squeeze in all of Jordan’s “big 3” but we’d encourage you to focus on 2 sites only in order to have enough time to take in the uniqueness of Jordan’s attractions without feeling too rushed.

Example 3-day Itinerary:

Day 1: Amman - Petra Visit. Overnight in Petra.

Day 2: Another visit to Petra in the morning, then head to Wadi Rum. Overnight in Wadi Rum.

Day 3: Morning jeep tour in Wadi Rum. Then back to Amman

Jordan in 4 - 6 days

If you have 4 to 6 days for your visit to Jordan, you can comfortably fit in Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea. You can either focus your time between these 3 amazing places, or add a few additional destinations onto your itinerary including Aqaba at the shores of Red Sea, or spend some time exploring Amman.

Example 5-day Itinerary:

With one week or even two weeks to spend, lots of great opportunities open up to explore Jordan in more depth. We recommend spending some more time at Petra and Wadi Rum, and Amman, plus add time to visit Mount Nebo, Madaba, Bethany, and Jerash in the North.
