Tipping in Jordan Many Travelers view tipping as a difficult subject, though this need not be the case. The first thing to remember is that tipping is not compulsory, nor are there any fixed amounts. The bottom line in determining whether and how much to tip is to ask yourself how much the individual did to make your travels more enjoyable. It is with this in mind that we offer the following information. Tipping is a practiced social custom in Jordan. Tipping by definition is voluntary – at the discretion of the customer. In tours services, tour guides and drivers are providing you with services, offering knowledge about Jordan history, traditions, artifacts, sites, food and others. A gratuity (also called a tip) is a sum of money customarily given by a client or customer to certain service sector for the service they have performed, in addition to the basic price of the service. It may or may not be customary to tip in other sectors, but this depends on the country or location. Tips and their amount are a matter of social custom and etiquette, and the custom varies between countries and between settings. In some locations tipping is discouraged and considered insulting, while in some other locations tipping is expected from customers. The customary amount of a tip can be a specific range of monetary amounts or a certain percentage of the bill based on the perceived quality of the service given. How Much to Tip in Jordan? Tips of 10% are generally expected in better restaurants. Elsewhere, rounding up the bill to the nearest 250 fils or with loose change is appreciated by underpaid staff, including taxi drivers. Hotels and restaurants in the midrange and, especially, top-end categories generally add on an automatic 10% service charge, although whether this actually returns to the staff who served you is another question. Gratuities for guides and drivers are not included in the price of your tour so we offer the following tipping guidelines. Tour Type Tips Suggestion From 01 person to 06 persons : Private & Individual Tours Driver : $ 20 - $ 40 USD per day from all group Spot Guide at sites, Bedouin driver in Wadi Rum etc : $ 25 - $ 50 USD per guide for all group Service staff at hotels, restaurants etc : $ 2 - $5 USD from all the group From 07 persons up to 20 persons Driver : $ 3- 5 USD per person per day Guide : $ 7 - 10 USD per person per day Service staff at hotels, restaurants etc : $ 1 USD per person From 21 persons up to 29 persons Driver : $ 3 USD per person per day Guide : $ 5 - 8 USD per person per day Service staff at hotels, restaurants etc : $ 1 USD per person From 30 persons and more Driver : $ 2 USD per person per day Guide : $ 3 - 5 USD per person per day Service staff at hotels, restaurants etc : $ 1 USD per person To book and confirm your tour (SHORE EXCURSION AQABA (CRUISE)) with us please use one of the following methods (choose any of the following that you feel is easier for you) : (1) Online Booking form, please click the below link : https://www.cognitoforms.com/JHT8/ShoreExcursionsFromAqabaPortBookingFormJHT (2) Or download the booking form from one of the links : Download Link # 01 (.doc format) : SHORE EXCURSION AQABA (CRUISE ) - Booking From Download Link # 02 (.docx format) : SHORE EXCURSION AQABA (CRUISE ) - Booking From Complete the booking form. There is one section at the entrance to the Siq that is a more significant gradient. The route can be suitable for wheelchairs (with assistance in sections). Beyond the Treasury the track is a rough sandy and gravel surface. It is not suitable for wheelchairs or recommended for those with mobility issues. From the Treasury to the end of the Main Trail and the Basin Restaruant is approximately 2kms. From the Basin Restaurant to the top of the mountain where the Monastery is located is approximately 800 steps. It is a step climb and takes approximately 45 mins. You will require a moderate degree of fitness to be able to visit the Monastery. In Wadi Rum the 4x4 tours are provided by the local Bedouin community. They are the only ones that are authorized to operate tours inside the protected area. We have a contract with two operators in Wadi Rum that provide our guests with a great experience. Your 4x4 tour will be conducted by a local Bedouin who is your driver. The local Bedouin speak varying degrees of English and are not a licensed guide. We cannot guarantee the quality of the English spoken or the degree of knowledge that your Bedouin driver will have. Please note that the Bedouin drivers do not speak languages other than English and Arabic. 4x4s in Wadi Rum are generally old vehicles (no a/c and in poor condition) and belong to the local Bedouin association. Given that we don't have any other choice when it comes to transportation in Wadi Rum, we can only advise our clients about their state. Tours in Wadi Rum are to support the local community of Wadi Rum Protected Area and Natural Reserve.
