4-JHT drivers/guides can assist you in requesting/arranging this service on spot if PRA confirm availability at your time of arrival at site.

5-Payment for this as per below schedule is to made directly to the PRA at the visitor center. So , we cannot book them , and we cannot accept payments .

Tipping in Jordan

Tipping in Jordan

Many Travelers view tipping as a difficult subject, though this need not be the case.  The first thing to remember is that tipping is not compulsory, nor are there any fixed amounts.  The bottom line in determining whether and how much to tip is to ask yourself how much the individual did to make your travels more enjoyable.  It is with this in mind that we offer the following information.

Tipping is a practiced social custom in Jordan. Tipping by definition is voluntary – at the discretion of the customer. In tours services, tour guides and drivers are providing you with services, offering knowledge about Jordan history, traditions, artifacts, sites, food and others.

A gratuity (also called a tip) is a sum of money customarily given by a client or customer to certain service sector for the service they have performed, in addition to the basic price of the service. It may or may not be customary to tip in other sectors, but this depends on the country or location.

Tips and their amount are a matter of social custom and etiquette, and the custom varies between countries and between settings. In some locations tipping is discouraged and considered insulting, while in some other locations tipping is expected from customers. The customary amount of a tip can be a specific range of monetary amounts or a certain percentage of the bill based on the perceived quality of the service given.

How Much to Tip in Jordan?

Tips of 10% are generally expected in better restaurants.  Elsewhere, rounding up the bill to the nearest 250 fils or with loose change is appreciated by underpaid staff, including taxi drivers.  Hotels and restaurants in the midrange and, especially, top-end categories generally add on an automatic 10% service charge, although whether this actually returns to the staff who served you is another question.

Gratuities for guides and drivers are not included in the price of your tour so we offer the following tipping guidelines.

Distances and walking required in Petra for those with mobility issues.

Please advise us if you have limited mobility or will acquire assistance and we will try to accommodate you as best we can.

From the Visitors Centre to the Treasury is approximately 2kms one way. It is a downhill walk to the Treasury which means that it is uphill all the way back. The first part of the walk from the Visitors Centre to the entrance of the Siq is a gravel track. Through the Siq it is a paved surface with a few rough sections of Roman cobblestones. There is one section at the entrance to the Siq that is a more significant gradient. The route can be suitable for wheelchairs (with assistance in sections). Beyond the Treasury the track is a rough sandy and gravel surface. It is not suitable for wheelchairs or recommended for those with mobility issues.

From the Treasury to the end of the Main Trail and the Basin Restaruant is approximately 2kms. From the Basin Restaurant to the top of the mountain where the Monastery is located is approximately 800 steps. It is a step climb and takes approximately 45 mins. You will require a moderate degree of fitness to be able to visit the Monastery.
