DAY 2: Amman - Petra Day Tour-Wadi Rum

On this day we will take you down south to visit the ancient Nabatean city of Petra. Did you know that Petra is one of the New7Wonders of the Modern World?

Once arrived at the visitor center, make your way through the Siq, a narrow, high walled, red sandstone canyon, towards the famous Treasury. Take some time to marvel at the magnificent building, which has been carved in stone thousands of years ago.

Then set out to explore the rest of the Rose-Red City with its many caves and tombs, a roman theater, palaces, and many other structures. If you enjoy walking, you can also hike all the way up to the High Place of Sacrifice, or even to the Monastery.

In the evening, either move on to Wadi Rum and stay in a Bedouin camp, get a taste of the traditional hospitality and eventually fall asleep under thousands of stars. Or, if you prefer the comfort of a nice hotel, you can alternatively spend the night in Wadi Musa, the village adjacent ancient Petra (see Tour Options below).

Meals included: Breakfast (& Dinner – Wadi Rum Option)

Overnight in Wadi Rum.

DAY 3: Wadi Rum–Amman

Enjoy the wilderness adventure of a 4×4 Jeep Tour through Wadi Rum. Following in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia and the Martian, you will discover ancient rock carvings, climb sand dunes or walk over rock bridges. Also pause and let the atmosphere of the magic desert landscape cast it’s spell over you.

In the evening, return to Amman with a head full of new impressions and images, and get some well-earned rest.

Then drive along the Dead Sea towards the stronghold of Masada. The grand fortress built by King Herod was the last stand of the Zealots in their fight against the Romans. The detailed excavations and the dramatic setting evoke the event that has become loaded with symbolism.

On your way you can stop at Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.

End your day with a dip in the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Enjoy the sensation of floating effortlessly in the salty water. Then, we will take you up the long, winding road to Jerusalem.

DAY 5: Jerusalem: Mt of Olives & Old City Tour

After a relaxed breakfast, your driver will take you to the Mt of Olives, where you can begin your city tour with a scenic view over Jerusalem.

Then follow the Palm Sunday route down the mountain, to visit the Garden of Gethsemane. According to tradition, this is the place where Jesus prayed the night before he was crucified.

Enter the Old City by foot and walk through the four quarters (Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Armenian) to view the major landmarks, including the Dome of the Rock, the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Take your time to stroll through the colorful markets, and trace 4000 years of dramatic history.

From there, you can drive to the Shepherd’s Fields in BeitSahour, which is the site where according to some tradition the angels first announced Jesus’ birth.

After that, return to Jerusalem. If there is time, you can visit a site in the western part of the city, such as the Mahane Yehuda Market, YadVashem (the Holocaust Memorial), or the Israel Museum (where you can see the Dead Sea Scrolls).
