Le sentier de Wadi Mudhluim est une alternative au Siq, qui traverse le tunnel nabatéen et un étroit canyon sinueux. Le Siq est l'entrée la plus connue et la plus spectaculaire de Pétra, et est utilisé par la majorité des visiteurs des ruines. Cependant, il existe un certain nombre d'entrées alternatives aux ruines, qui accueillent beaucoup moins de visiteurs et qui valent la peine d'être explorées, surtout si vous prévoyez de passer plus d'un ou deux jours à Pétra.

Bien qu'il soit conseillé de suivre le Siq jusqu'à Pétra au moins une fois (et probablement plus d'une fois, à différents moments de la journée), si vous avez consacré plusieurs jours à une visite, le magnifique Wadi Muthlim est une bonne voie d'accès alternative à travers des paysages époustouflants, mais qui prend pas moins de deux heures pour vous amener au nymphée du centre-ville. En raison du danger très réel de crues soudaines, vous ne devriez pas du tout l'essayer pendant la saison des pluies (environ de novembre à mars) et même jusqu'en mai, il peut y avoir des flaques d'eau stagnantes difficiles à éviter abritant des serpents d'eau : patauger serait une erreur.
Avant de commencer la randonnée, vous pouvez faire un petit détour depuis le barrage à l'entrée du Siq jusqu'à la Niche de l'Aigle, située dans les rochers à 400 m au nord-ouest. Traversez l'oued par-dessus le toit du tunnel et dirigez-vous vers la gauche dans la deuxième vallée latérale ; c'est une courte montée sur la roche lisse et chaude jusqu'à un ensemble de petites niches creusées dans le mur de droite, dont l'une présente un aigle remarquablement sculpté aux ailes déployées.
De retour au tunnel, le Wadi Muthlim, plein de lauriers roses, mais avec de hauts murs coupant tout son, à l'exception du chant occasionnel des oiseaux, est facilement praticable jusqu'aux vestiges d'un autre barrage nabatéen ; au-delà, le sentier devient de plus en plus étroit jusqu'à ce que vous atteigniez un point où un énorme rocher bloque presque le passage. Il est possible de se faufiler et le sentier continue de se rétrécir jusqu'à ce que, le fond du wadi ne dépassant pas la largeur de votre pied, vous atteigniez un carrefour en T ; des flèches sur les murs solides tout autour vous indiqueront la gauche. Ce wadi transversal est le SiddMaajn, tout aussi étroit, mais magnifiquement érodé par l'eau qui coule. Au fur et à mesure que vous avancez, semblant vous déplacer au cœur de la montagne, vous remarquerez que les Nabatéens étaient là avant vous : il y a des dizaines de niches sculptées, certaines avec des frontons, d'autres des cornes courbées. C'est à cet endroit que le chemin peut être bloqué par des bassins rocheux.
Finalement, vous émergerez dans le Wadi Mataha ouvert, à environ 600 m au nord-est de la maison de Dorotheos et à près de 2 km au nord-est du nymphée.

: 4- In very rare cases, JHT reserves the rights to amend or cancel the booking in the following cases: DT

When no personalized follow up email detailing that a booking is confirmed is sent by a member of our reservation team. If our JHT team is not available i.e. contact outside working hours, weekends, national holiday, religious holidays or any applicable holiday i.e. Easter, Eids, Christmas, New Year’s Eve…etc. –(C). In cases of missing information on guests’ side as some information is necessary. – (D). Also JHT reserves the right to amend /cancel the tour / itinerary for reasons such as service requirements, road or weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Because these excursions will be provided by local operators and independent suppliers, Jordan Horizons Tours - JHT does not have any involvement in how they are run, nor can Jordan Horizons Tours - JHT guarantee the accuracy of information in relation to such activities and excursions outside of our control. –(B). Jordan Horizons Tours - JHT cannot guarantee that an optional excursion or activity operated by an independent third party will be available during your tour in Jordan, or that it will operate as advertised. Jordan Horizons Tours - JHT disclaims any liability in relation to such activities or excursions. –(C). Those tours are subject to the supplier’s Terms and conditions or any other circumstances, i.e : service requirements, road or weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances…etc -(D) If you want to include this tour in your Jordan Tour package with us , this will be added to your original booking and you can pay to us directly & it will be added to the tour .-(E). : 2. When those tours can be booked or added to your tour package in Jordan OTIJ
-(A). Those tours only available for booking in case if a tour package has been booked and those tour to be added to the package. So, Booking this tour is not available UNLESS you have already booked or you are going to book a tour package in Jordan.-(B). Otherwise if you have a rental car and booking Jordan tour by your own, you can contact them the suppliers of those tours to book it for you.
: 3. Booking in Advance or Booking once you are in Jordan ? OTIJ
-(A). Some optional tours can not be booked in advance and they will be available upon your arrival to Jordan (Examples : camel riding in Petra and Wadi Rum, Golf Carts in Petra, Petra by Night, Petra Kitchen, Beit Setti, optional tours in Aqaba …etc. You can ask your driver/guide to book and arrange them for you , and you can pay to the driver or to the service supplier directly. –(B). However, some of the optional tours should be booked in advance, (i.e Balloon Ride , Horse Riding in Petra or Wadi Rum , Guided tours in Petra , Tours by Jeep or Trekking in wadi rum , Hiking tours and guides in Dana …etc), Those optional tours should be booked in advance and they are subject to the supplier’s Terms and conditions or any other circumstances, i.e : service requirements, availability, road or weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances…etc.
Pro-tip: Some activities and excursions are subject to a minimum number of travelers in order to run, while the excursions could be confirmed by supplier months ahead, closer to date, and if the minimum number to operate was not achieved, or if for weather conditions, it was deemed unsafe to run, the excursions can be cancelled by vendor.
