The award was presented during a special ceremony held on Friday, February 21, in Florence, Italy, at the Sala Verde in Villa Vittoria Piazza, as part of the activities of the World Tourism Exhibition (TourismA).
The Baptism Site of Jesus Christ (Al-Maghtas), on the eastern bank of the Jordan River, is one of the sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and has succeeded in attracting pilgrims and visitors from all over the world to visit it, enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a leading destination for religious and cultural tourism.
The award is a testament to Jordan’s success in its commitment to preserving heritage, and in a way that enhances its position as a global center for archaeological and cultural tourism.
