Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Lina Annab affirmed that Jordan, despite the surrounding regional circumstances, continues to enjoy security and stability and continues to play its role as a safe tourist destination that welcomes visitors from around the world.
During a meeting held on Monday, attended by tourism sector operators and relevant authorities, Annab explained that protecting Jordan's tourism image requires everyone in the sector to work as a team and enhance full cooperation between government and private entities to address the challenges facing the tourism sector.
She added that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will work to form a dedicated operations room for the sector, including all components of the tourism system and partners from both public and private entities, with the aim of enhancing coordination, enhancing integration of roles, and ensuring efficient business continuity.
Annab emphasized the ministry's commitment to continuous coordination with partners to ensure the continuity of tourism and mitigate any negative impacts that may result from regional developments. She noted that the ministry is closely monitoring the status of reservations and cancellations and is working to establish clear mechanisms to address any changes. She also indicated that the Ministry, in cooperation with partners in the tourism sector, will work to develop and implement promotional campaigns and integrated marketing plans as part of its efforts to promote tourism in Jordan and address current challenges. These plans will target new markets, in addition to traditional ones, through specialized campaigns that highlight the diversity of Jordanian tourism products.
Annab added, "Efforts will also be made to support domestic tourism, in addition to strengthening cooperation with international and regional tourism bodies, which will contribute to maintaining the momentum of tourism and achieving sustainable development across the Kingdom."
She emphasized that the Ministry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Royal Jordanian Airlines, is following up on securing the return of Jordanian citizens stranded at airports due to the suspension of air traffic due to regional circumstances. She explained that joint efforts are being made around the clock to ensure the organization of return flights and the provision of the necessary support to ensure the safety of citizens.
Annab emphasized the importance of exchanging information and effective communication between various stakeholders in the sector to ensure informed decisions based on accurate information, enhancing the sector's ability to deal with developments.
She pointed out the need for messages sent to the world to reflect the reality of security and stability in Jordan, emphasizing the importance of continuing well-thought-out promotional campaigns and developing alternative plans to enhance the Kingdom's image as a safe and stable tourist destination.
For their part, tourism sector representatives emphasized that the current phase requires greater solidarity and collective action, emphasizing that addressing challenges and developments requires a true partnership between the public and private sectors.
They explained that maintaining the stability of the tourism sector and the sustainability of tourism activity requires everyone's cooperation in developing clear plans. They expressed their full readiness to support the Ministry and government's efforts to ensure Jordan remains a preferred tourist destination regionally and internationally.
