The Petra Jordan Trail Marathon: Race Details
This extraordinary event spans multiple iconic locations in Jordan, each offering a unique challenge and a breathtaking view. The race will cover the following stunning routes:
Jerash: Begin your adventure by running through the ancient Roman city of Jerash, where you will pass by ancient ruins, columns, and arches, experiencing the glory of one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world.
Dana to Wadi Araba (through Wadi Dana): This leg of the race takes you from the Dana Biosphere Reserve, through the stunning and rugged Wadi Dana, all the way to Wadi Araba. This trail offers a dramatic backdrop of deep gorges and valleys, rich with wildlife and natural beauty.
Al Jhai'r Shobak Race: Starting from the historic Shobak Castle, participants will race to Hishah. The trail winds through rocky terrains and offers a mix of history and natural wonder, with the medieval Shobak Castle towering over the landscape.
From Little Petra to the Bedouin Village: This trail takes runners from Little Petra, an ancient Nabatean site, through the backroads, offering an off-the-beaten-path experience. You’ll end the trail at the Bedouin Village, a testament to the local culture and traditions that have stood the test of time.
Wadi Rum Trail: The grand finale! This trail begins at Little Bridge and takes runners through the Bedouin Trail and the sweeping sand dunes, before leading them into the spectacular White Desert of Wadi Rum. Wadi Rum, known as the "Valley of the Moon," is a vast and dramatic landscape of desert mountains and sand that has long been a favorite among adventurers and explorers.
